Bodies and Cities  2010

Bodies and Cities quotes the formal conventions of interior scenes in 16th and 17th century Flemish genre paintings, in which a variety of domestic objects and framing devices play important symbolic roles in the social narratives of the time. Installed in Vallauris France, the installation is a meditation on the disintegration and renewal of urban spaces and the bodies that inhabit them, seen through a lens of conflated histories.
