Hygeia  2008

I am interested in objects that function at the margin of the human body and the exterior world. Sickroom appliances and other receptacles make contact with the body’s crevices, holes, entry points and vulnerable spaces, where things shed, leak, renew and break down. Smooth white and prosthetic pink contours merge with drains and tubes, mechanisms poke and probe, and domestic architecture frames a place where science, pseudo–science and technology merge with an abject and mortal body.
