Iconographie  2001-2004

The porcelain forms in my intimate tableaux are derived from original receptacles used to purify, feed and flush the body, resurrected from the bathrooms, bedrooms and sickrooms of the late 19th and early 20th century. These effluvial conduits, masquerading as erotic souvenirs, borrow on historical narratives of good housekeeping, illness, social disorder and sex, where the disciplines of medicine and psychology converge on the female body. Elegant, refined, sweetly demure, they conjure leaky bodies in absentia, gender coded and recast as fictions in my own imagination.
